11:44 am - Project: Gen X Clan Recruitment

ncpolice555
Project Gen-X was conceived from the need to find a community of like-minded individuals. People with lives, family, jobs, and very little time to become an elite player on Xbox live. A place where these people can get together and discuss XBL, their lives, and most of all a place to have fun.

If you are new to XBL, or tired of other forums that may have much younger individuals, this is the place to be.

This clan is more of an Xbox Live Community, who's members are the older generation of ages 18 and older and is a close knit community a place where you can come and chat about everything Xbox and beyond. This is a great community that you can come in and everyone knows you & your name when reading a post. You wont be lost in the hundreds of names normally found in larger forums, instead Project Gen-X is a small community of close freinds who enjoy discussing and playing games.

I invite you over to come in and take a tour and sign-up your gamertag and become an active member of a great community of older XBox Live players. And it doesnt matter what type of games you enjoy playing, our community has members that plays them all, everything from Halo Series, Ghost Recons, First Person Shooters, Sports, Fantasy RPGs, and many more, so we invite you to bring your style of gaming and join this close community of friends!

Anyone here given Need For Speed Underground 2 a spin? It looks like a real kick in the ass, but I'm having a hard time coming to terms with the game revolving around the tuner culture. Both the places I've lived in have their real-life groups of car molesters, and frankly, I find these people to be a group of morons. I'm not talking about the culture in general, in every city, just where I've lived (just outside of Toronto and just outside of Hamilton) the import tuner set is represented by people with obvious esteem issues, who have good jobs but remain in the basement of their mother's house, because every paycheck is sunk into making their Accord or their Integra into some kind of miniature parade float.

Sorry, getting a bit off topic. Bottom line: can anyone attest to the fact that the gameplay of NSFU2 is worth looking past its subject matter? Or: is it nearly as much fun as Project Gotham 2 or Burnout 3?

2:41 am - XBox Live vs XBox Connect 4

wyze_guy
I just gave XBC 4 a shot and it isn't half bad, it's pretty fun to play with people via alternative means.
Has anyone tried XBC before? if so what's are your reviews on it?

Has anyone played Kingdom Under Fire? I was thinking of picking it up this weekend. So far though I've only played a demo on a Xbox magazine cd. I enjoyed what I did have a chance to see but was wondering whether someone with the full game could give me a lowdown.

Or any other suggestions for current games? Not Halo 2 :P

2:27 pm - A non-fps-fan's perspective

fat_shark
I recently went on a tirade in my personal journal about the hype surrounding Halo 2. Not that I found the whole thing annoying, just a little comical at times. Not to mention a tad frightful. I actually thought the whole thing was an example of a marketing campaign done right. Bungie and Microsoft knew their target audience, and they locked right into it. Pre-sale and first day numbers will attest to that.

HOWEVER, I said that I couldn't see Halo 2 possibly living up to the hype. Not that I expected it to suck; but with a hype machine so monolithic, so all-encompassing, it could be the best game of all time and still fail to meet some expectations.

Among all the other things this ad campaign succeeded in though, it did manage to draw in at least one non-fan. I've never been a real lover of First-Person Shooters. Mostly because I suck at them. There have been a handful of exceptions though; Half-Life being the most prevalent. Give me my third-person hack 'n slash fests or my arcade racers any day.

Nonetheless, I gave it a rental. And I'll have to admit, it's not bad. Not quite as immersive as Half-Life (though it comes as close as I've seen to date), or as ambitious as The Chronicles of Riddick, or as irreverent as No-one Lives Forever (now there's a trip down memory lane!), I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do.

In fact, if you set it within the right context, it may very well be the best. It is likely the best First Person Shooter on XBox. I'm not going to expand beyond that, because I think that's stupid. It's not going to be the best game ever to RPG fans. It's not going to be the best XBox game to Ninja Gaiden or Fable or Project Gotham Racing fanatics. It's not going to be the best FPS to Gamecube or PC owners (that honour will likely go to Metroid Prime 2 and Half-Life 2, respectively). But within its boundaries, it's pretty unique.

Granted, I haven't gotten very far yet, so maybe there'll be some genre-transcending gameplay that I have yet to encounter. I'll reserve any complaints until I've gotten a real meaty amount of play out of it. Well ok, maybe one complaint: How do they expect me to believe that someone with the voice of David "Mr. Show" Cross is some military hardass?!?

current mood: contemplative

I'm an X-Men Legends addict. I've only had it for like 2 weeks but played it through more than 4 times. The only problem I have with it is that it's not live compatible. That would be great for multiplayer. I've heard that the sequel has been confirmed. Do you think they'll incorporate it into the new one? and what other aspects (i.e. new characters) do you think they will add?
